Cable & Striping System for WMS Signage. We have designed a cable & striping system for WMS signage that will maximize space usage and minimize downtime. It has been used in large warehouses such as Southern Wine & Spirits, in various locations including California, Nevada, and New York. JBD Enterprises Wire Cabling Design is a proven system. We have incorporated a safety system that, when hit by a forklift etc., a turnbuckle will snap and the safety line will keep the cable from falling. A forklift will snap the cable, but the turnbuckle will always break first. You simply replace the turnbuckle and tighten up the cable. All signs will remain hanging and you will have no down time on warehouse operation. Since the WMS has a sign at every location, our wire cable design makes it easier and faster to hang signs. No hanging chains at every location. Adjust simply by sliding to new position. You simply hang the signs using zip ties and slide the sign down the cable just overtop its location. The cables have a much cleaner look to them, they are practically invisible. Sign movement due to air circulation is greatly reduced since all signs are on one cable that is secured tightly across the warehouse, whereas before while hanging from chains they were free to swing in the breeze making them hard to scan. Line striping for the bulk locations works hand in hand with the WMS cable system. The cables are installed above the locations, 25 to 30 feet in height, depending on preference and the range of scan guns. Each location is striped at 48 inches on center. This will give you a minimum inside width of 44 inches. The average pallet is 40 inches so you have some leeway. Most aisle ways are 12 feet wide. This is based on the minimum amount needed for forklifts. The length of a location depends on the amount of product that is going to be stored there. A one deep location is 50 inches long and can hold one pallet, a two deep is 100 inches long, a three deep is 150 inches long, etc. Striping the locations ensures proper placement of signs, pallets, and clear guides for the forklift drivers, and optimizes the use of available warehouse space. Essentially the combined system of cable and striping maximizes production efficiency by cutting out unneeded labor, downtime, and confusion due to more complicated and less productive systems.
